I am a huge fan and frequent patron of Chick-fil-a. Until recently, I used to have breakfast a nearby location 3-4 times per week. The reason I chose to go there is because I enjoyed the uplifting Christian music, which was a great start to my day. Luckily, the McDonalds by my house also plays Christian music, and although the food is not nearly as good, I am still able to enjoy my relaxing mornings.
One thing that has always impressed me about Chick-fil-a is that they held true to their beliefs, even if there was a negative effect on sales. I feel it is important to always stand up for what you believe in. And, Chick-fil-a used to consistently do this.
I recently noticed, at two separate locations, that Chick-fil-a is now playing instrumental-only versions of Christian songs, rather than the contemporary Christian they previously played. I did a quick internet search and it appears that some customers were complaining that the lyrics of the music was offensive to them. I feel that by removing the lyrics from their music, Chick-fil-a has compromised their beliefs and their heritage. Chick-fil-a has given into sales pressure from people who do not share the same faith in God that Chick-fil-a has always openly possessed. I understand that Chick-fil-a is a business, and in business, profit reigns, but this really seems to be a departure from their previous philosophies.
There is a Casting Crown’s song called “Slow Fade” and while it’s talking about a different kind of compromise, the point is still applicable… when you start to compromise your beliefs, bad things often result. I do not want to see this happen for Chick-fil-a! There is no reason to straddle the fence between being Godly and trying to please the world. I wish that Chick-fil-a would continue be true to who they are as a company, and what their founder believed in. That’s what made Chick-fil-a special, and is the reason I enjoy eating there.

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Galatians 1:10 “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”
Authentic Believer
